Lahore: Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that speedy development of deprived and less-developed areas is a priority agenda of the government adding that provision of basic facilities to the remote hinterlands will be ensured in accordance with the vision of prime minister Imran Khan. We will have to work day and night to fulfill the dream of welfare of the masses, he added. Now, the administration will have to proactively work to serve the people and any formality won’t help. Claims were made about the development of deprived areas in the past but no practical step was taken in this regard. He said that action will be initiated against those submitting wrong data about the development schemes. The commissioners should submit reports after reviewing development schemes in the relevant areas, he added.
The chief minister said the situation of health, education and other basic facilities is deteriorated and facilities are, in fact, negligible in remote and tribal areas of the division. A filtration plant is necessary at every union council to provide clean drinking water to the people and Punjab Bank should also establish soft branches in the tribal areas. He said that lack of staff and other resources will be fulfilled in boarder military police. Meanwhile, availability of ladies and children’s parks are also necessary in small cities and towns. He directed that names of health councils should be displayed outside the hospitals and state-of-the-art gynae and ICUs should be established in all teaching hospitals of the province including DG Khan. Gynae wards of deprived areas should be especially upgraded and roads should be repaired to improve the connectivity between different divisions of the province.
He was presiding over a special meeting held to review the development schemes of the province including DG Khan. Secretaries of housing, C&W, higher education, schools education, health, P&D and home departments, along with other officials, attended the meeting.
