Islamabad(Daily P.Times): Newly-elected Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Imran Khan has nominated Arif Alvi for the slot of country’s President.According to media reports, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf information secretary Fawad Chaudhry through a tweet informed that his party has nominated Alvi for President Slot.
The decision was taken during a senior party leadership meeting a day before at Banigala.Arif Alvi was elected member National Assembly from NA-247 Karachi during July 25 General Election and emerged victorious. He was born in Karachi on July 29, 1949. He had taken part in elections for the first time in 1997 on PTI ticket while he contested election in 2002 from PS 90 where he was defeated.However, he was elected Member NA from NA-250 Karachi in 2013also remained party secretary from 2006 to 2013. From 2016 till now he remained President of PTI Sindh. It is vital to mention here that President Mamnoon Hussain would retire in September and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also announced election for President on September 4.
