“Youth to be made active part of society”
Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has said that it is essential to hone the skills of our youth as a bulk of the population in Pakistan and AJK comprises of individuals below the age of thirty. Only if provided with the relevant skill sets, our youth will be able to compete with their regional and global peers, he said.
The President made these remarks while distributing shields amongst organizers and officials who helped successfully conduct the Future Leaders Conference arranged by the Punjab Chief Minister Youth Mobilization Committee (CMYMC) at Muzaffarabad Medical College on 12th of May.
The Future Leaders Conference was addressed by many leading personalities of Azad Kashmir who encouraged the participants in taking up leadership roles towards the prosperity of the country. The Conference, this time around focused on three key topics, i.e. How to become a Leader, Personality Development and Communication Skills.
The President said that the youth of today must yearn to inculcate leadership qualities within themselves and focus on personality and capacity building. He added that communication is key to helping students and the youth in understanding pertinent global issues. He commended the organizers in facilitating the youth towards understanding the safe and effective use of modern communication tools.
“Our youth is a major asset and an invaluable human resource, which we need to capitalize on through capacity building and quality education”, said the President.
President Masood Khan said that such events will help engage students in activities where they can get practical knowledge, exposure and develop competencies. He added that this initiative by Shahbaz Sharif, former Chief Minister Punjab, has helped bring the youth of the country together to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing our country.
The President said that the awareness created and the zeal of the participants witnessed in the Conference has shown that this event remained successful. He urged the organizers to arrange similar conferences organized in other cities of Azad Kashmir.
The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Kaleem Abbasi, Vice Chancellor University of AJK; Mr. Sarosh Majeed, Principal Muzaffarabad Medical College; Rana Ghulam Muzaffar, Chief Organizer CMYMC; Khawaja Abdur Rehman, DPI Colleges, activists, students and notables of the community.
Meanwhile, a delegation comprising of members of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Youth Wing Rawalakot called on the President here at the President Office. The delegation was headed by Sardar Waseem Aashiq, President PML (N) Youth Wing, Constituency 4 Rawalakot and consisted of Wajeeh-ul-Islam, Secretary Sports PML (N) Youth Wing and Sardar Tayyeb, Joint Secretary PML (N) Poonch.
During the interaction, the President commended the efforts of the PML (N) Youth Wing in mobilizing the youth and encouraging them to actively participate in social welfare activities. He said that the youth need to be engaged in such activities in order to help inculcate a sense of responsibility and make them an integral part of the society at large.
Afterwards, prominent legal expert Raja Muhammad Hanif Khan also called on the President. Highlighting the importance of universal and affordable access to justice for all the citizens, the President the legal fraternity to come together and formulate a policy in similar lines. President Masood Khan said that matters concerning the ease of access to the legal assistance for the poor has to be ensured in order to promote equality before law.
