Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir National Front has expressed serious concern over the plight of political prisoners including its chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, senior resistance leaders Shabir Shah, Altaf Shah, Pir Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid ul Islam, Bita Karate, Raja Mehraj din kalwal and noted businessman Zahoor Watali. The party has stressed upon international brethren to raise its voice in favour of oppressed Kashmiris. Terming the plight of Kashmiri prisoners as seriously alarming, National Front said the jail authorities subject the inmates to inhuman treatment inside jails. Kashmiri people are suffering at the hands of New Delhi since seven decades and the plight of political prisoners has now reached to a point where it has become a serious issue.Expressing serious concern over the prisoner’s plight National Front said that the health condition of the prisoners including Nayeem Khan is alarming and these political detainees are being subjected to mental and physical pain and agony. Kashmri prisoners are facing not only the tough weather conditions because of their lodgement in far off jails, but also the criminal attitude of the jail authorities. The state jails have already been filled, now the Kashmiri prisoners are being jailed in different Indian jails increasing their plight manifold.
National Front appealed to international community to intervene in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people and impress upon the government of India to desist from perpetuating the reign of terror. National Front said that Kashmiri political prisoners like Nayeem Khan are scripting a new history of resistance by means of their steadfastness and patience and New Delhi must admit that it has badly failed in breaking the political will of leaders like Nayeem Khan. It is high time for New Delhi to read the writing on wall and accept that arrests, oppression and suppression only escalate the situation. So India must adopt a policy of resolution so that the region enjoys long lasting peace and stability.
