Islamabad: The attach department of Ministry of Housing and Works Pak PWD is facing a severe financial crunch.
Due to the lethargy of Finance Ministry several thousand employees have been deprived of their salaries of several months.
More than one thousand employees appointed on the recommendation and reference of federal Housing Minister have also not given their pay for two months.
Sources say that across the country including Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore and Islamabad the salaries of staffers have been stopped. Islamabad PWD employee are most likely to get the December salary but the employees in other cities are facing the brunt of the financial crisis.
PWD sources said that Finance Ministry always metd out a step motherly treatment to these staffers. Ministry is even reluctant to give the granted funds.
On the other hand the Minister of Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani has made recommendations to appoint more than one thousand officials and in Islamabad High Court a case against them is sub judice. Director Budget has ordered to stop their salaries. His contention is that till a decision of the court their salaries can not be disbursed. He said in case the decision comes against the employees and it would be very difficult to make recovery from them.
