Muzaffarabad: 5 labour miners found dead and 2 injured in a mine near Muzaffarabad late night on Sunday when coalmine collapsed after gas explosion.
According to initial reports, one part of the coalmine collapsed due to gas explosion when these labors were working inside the mine, 5 coalminers were down in the mine for work in progress found dead when they wrecked under the rubble, while other 2 were on the gateway were safe but got injured.
The Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Masood-Ur-Rehman who has been monitoring the rescue process whole night, said that the cave-in caused due to gas explosion when 5 miners were busy in digging around 800 to 900 feet down in tunnel. “2 other laborers who got bruises have been shifted to CMH for first aid treatmentâ€, he added.
DC said, “Contractor of mine and the person who acquired land on lease both are responsible for this incident, a case has been filed under section of 322 and 337 of Azad Penal code”. SSP Muzaffarabad and SHO city police station Rashid Habib Masoodi were also present in rescue process.
Dead bodies of labors, who were named as Nosher Khan, Bakht Munir, Bahadur Khan, Gulzaib, and Aslam Khan were shifted to their native area after post mortem. 2 persons among dead were brothers and 1 injured is also 3rd brother among 7 victims of this incident. 6 personnel accused in the incident have been arrested.
DC told that the work in the coalmine has been stopped until all safety measures were put in place. It may be recalled here three labourers lost their lives in a similar incident that took place in the same coalmine a few months ago.
