Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, at least 35 people were injured after Indian troops and police personnel resorted to teargas shelling on the funeral of a boy in Srinagar, today. The 16-year-old boy, Qaiser Sofi, was found in an unconscious state a day after he went missing on 27th October. He was admitted at the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar where he breathed his last at around last night. Locals said that the boy was arrested by Indian troops and was subjected to custodial torture.The mourners shouting pro-freedom slogans marched from Safa Kadal towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Eidgah with the body of the boy. However, Indian forces deployed in the area resorted to teargas shelling to stop them from proceeding ahead. Around 35 persons, including two women, were injured in the forces’ brutal action. The mourners, however, managed to reach the Martyrs’ Graveyard. The body of the martyred was shrouded in Pakistani flag.Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Javed Ahmed Mir and Democratic Freedom Party and Peoples Freedom League in their statements strongly denounced the use of force on the funeral of Qaiser Sofi.Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one Kashmiri youth during a siege and search operation in Dobjan area of Shopian district, today. Earlier, an Indian soldier was killed in an attack in the same area. Complete shutdown continued on 120th consecutive day, today, against the civilian killings and other brutalities of Indian forces in the Kashmir Valley. Indian police raided the residence of Ummat-e-Islami Chairman, Qazi Ahmad Yasir, in Reshi Bazar area of Islamabad town to arrest him. The police took along Qazi Yasir’s brother and a party activist along. On the other hand, rich tributes were paid by the Kashmiri people to the Jammu martyrs of 1947 on their martyrdom anniversary. Seminars and functions could not be held due to restrictions in the occupied territory. Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Mazahamat in their separate statements said that the sacrifices of Kashmir martyrs would not be allowed to go waste. The Bar Association of Gujranwala held a function, today, to eulogize the sacrifices of the Jammu martyrs. Addressing on the occasion, the APHC-AJK Convener, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, and other speakers including Mir Tahir Masood said that the mission of Kashmiri martyrs would be accomplished at all costs.
