Knowledge is contained in learning and experience. One must endure in his life to quest for knowledge. There is no doubt that when you assimilate knowledge is a priceless. Like wise book is treasure trove, you should read with care and attention so that you know the importance of knowledge. However, education is for life. It has never ending point. Education is neither eastern nor western subject. It is rather universal subject. Knowledge is digested when you read different books which are rich with knowledge. The book I pen down the review is about ” Problems of Education in Pakistan” written by professor (Mrs) Naseem Jaffer Quddus. The book is all about the history of education its development and problems. The writer, Mrs Naseem, is highly learned scholar. She has not left even aura of subject without explanation. She has given a suitable references highly pregnant with knowledge and has also provided remedial measures for it’s solution. Book is very comprehensive and justified the education problems; Pakistan is facing since it’s independence. It is a matter of concern that yet there is no tangible improvement in education sector though it is fact that education is the only solution to the problems our country Is facing everyday. The civilized nations asserted this fact that without quality education their prosperity and well-being are not possible. So, they have not only deemed the education sector first in importance but also remained conscious of changing trends and patterns. They also bring their students a special privilege because education is indispensable to them. Mrs. Naseem took the subject of education prime in importance. She has briefly defined how education has developed since the centuries. The initial chapters of the book are very important because they are educating a layperson to know that how education developed and became primary source to change the livings of the people. Centuries ago, Mrs. Naseem writes about the evolution of education. The existing journey of education is very hard to us because it has travelled from stone age to gigantic palace buildings and formed living in Libraries and authority chairs. This is also fact that education was an alien subject to women. The spartan wanted their children to be physically mighty whereas the Hindus confined education to the Behrman clad and the Chinese formed the ideographic ( learning the character of language as their first subject of study) critically the characters of Chinese language are 5000, and their synonyms are around 25,000 with additional variant forms containing 260,000. These characters are very challenging to the native speakers at initial stage to memories and same is that education in Chinese was based on the memory of language. The similar practice was among the Hindus, they used to read the Vedic stories and make education only for the Behrman. The other orientals like Greeks and Romans were similarly ignorant to the real essence of education.Education took the priority when the revolutions, in the form of the Renaissance and Reformation, happened throughout Europe.Education is a universal subject it is therefore neither eastern nor western. The essential ingredient of education is for life. It is the only pandemic which is supported and encouraged if it spreads world wide. Education became the centerpiece when the changes were realized that they are for the benefit of the people. Education without practice is no education. It is seedbad to the prosperity and development when it becomes practical and fruitful. The chapters of the book are very important to read. They meet the demands of the reader and the learnt. Language is simple and lucid in the meaning. One does not escape the eye of knowledge when you glance the following contents of the book: History of Education, Meaning of Education, System of Education, Child Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Higher Education, National Language, Audio-visual Aids, Films, Students, Teachers, Women, Family, Socialized Education and Epilogue. All the aforesaid contents of the book are related to the daily life of people, and society. The book is highly recommended for the readers who are knowledge seekers and thirsty for education. The book has overall 375 pages worth reading.
