KARACHI: In a small ceremony Tuesday , the European Union Delegation to Pakistan donated ICT equipment, office furniture and other consumables including medical kits worth Rs 23 million (€155,000) to three non-profit organizations: Edhi Foundation, Strengthening Participatory Organization and Panah.
The donation traditionally occurs at the end of the activities of an Election Observation Mission from the European Union. In light with the European Union traditional decisions after the Mission leaves the country, all major equipment is donated to local foundations that need support.
Ambassador of the European Union, H.E. Jean-François Cautain said at the occasion: “I am very pleased to have this rare opportunity, on behalf of the European Union, to freely donate a whole range of useful items, and therefore acknowledge the precious and hard work made by some NGOs in Pakistan to the benefit of Pakistani citizens. As we all know, NGOs, be they national or international, do a tremendous work in helping very important numbers of Pakistani citizens get access to their rights and be lifted out of very difficult situations. That is the reason why the European Union is particularly proud to choose three of them on this particular day to pay them a tribute for their very dedicated actions”.
