Islamabad: Approximately 200.79 million saplings of different plants had been planted across the country during the past three years and country has total 88.41 hector of forest land.
According to detail, vast number of plants 170 million had been planted in KP. Out of 88.41 hector of forest land nearly 4.55 million hector was covered with forest which approximately less than 4%. Nearly 5.1% was national forest.
According to the available documents, around 207.98 million different saplings of trees had been planted in country from 2016 to 2018 as most trees planted in KP province.
175.64 million in KP, 13.92 million in Punjab, 6.79 million in Sindh, 1.09 million in Balochistan and 1.9 million in Balochistan.
It further noted in documents that 207.98 trees had been planted in county during the spring season and 107.03 million in 2017 monsoon season.
Currently, Punjab has 20.51 million hector area of forest and only 0.55 million covered with forest. KP has 7.44 million hector of forest land but 1.51 million hector land covered with forest. Likewise Sindh has 14.26 million hector of forest land but only 0.66 million hector was covered with forest.
Balochistan has 35.19 million hector forest land but only 0.31 million areas covered with forest.
Furthermore, AJK has 0.44 million hector area covered with forest, FATA and Frontier region has 0.53 million hector area covered with forest.
The first national forest strategy had been given by Council of Common Interests. The Federal Forest Board had been restored after the approval of CCI. However, PTI was fully prepared and plans to launch its proposed “10 Billion Tree Tsunami” program across the country.
