Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Glowing Tributes Paid to Ashraf Sehrai on His Third Martyrdom Anniversary
Senior leader All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement(JKSM), Altaf Ahmed Bhat, today led heartfelt tributes to the esteemed Kashmiri leader, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, on the occasion of his third martyrdom anniversary. In a solemn statement, he recognized Sehrai’s unwavering dedication and the sacrifices he made for the freedom and dignity of the Kashmiri people.
Ashraf Sehrai’s tragic death in Indian police custody in Jammu on May 5, 2021, is a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle and the high cost of Kashmir’s fight for self-determination.
Senior leader APHC and Chairman JKSM Altaf Ahmed Bhat strongly condemned the circumstances surrounding Sehrai’s death, highlighting the need for justice and accountability for those responsible for this injustice.
Senior leader APHC and Chairman JKSM Altaf Ahmed Bhat emphasized the importance of continuing Sehrai’s mission and honoring his legacy. He stated, “Ashraf Sehrai’s sacrifice will never be forgotten. It is our duty to ensure that his dreams of a free and just Kashmir are realized. The fight for justice and liberty will persist until the Kashmiri people attain their rightful freedom.”
Furthermore, he added that the Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement underscores the urgent need for a credible investigation into Ashraf Sehrai’s custodial death, seeking transparency and accountability. The ongoing struggle for justice will not rest until the truth is unveiled, and the perpetrators are held accountable.
Senior leader APHC and Chairman JKSM Altaf Ahmed Bhat acknowledged the loss of Ashraf Sehrai’s son, Junaid Sehrai, who also laid down his life fighting against Indian occupation in May 2020. He noted, “The sacrifices made by the Sehrai family and all other Kashmiris will forever be etched in the golden pages of Kashmir’s history. Their courage inspires us to continue the struggle with greater determination.”
“The Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement and its leadership express solidarity with all those who have suffered in the pursuit of freedom.”He added.
He also called on the international community United Nations, P5 to recognize the injustices committed in Jammu and Kashmir and to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
