Pakistan and Tajikistan are important countries located at a sensitive location, geopolitical sensitivity and mineral resources in the region, and close relations in neighbouring countries are a great gift of nature. The two countries are located just 16 km (10 mi) apart. The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow region in northeastern Afghanistan, extending into China, separating Tajikistan from Pakistan. Relations between the two states were established when the Tajik Republic became independent after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Trade and cooperation between the two countries is steadily growing. Like Pakistan, Tajikistan has always supported Pakistan’s position on international affairs, bilateral relations and long-standing issues facing Pakistan, and this sweetness in Pakistan-Tajik relations is the basic foundation of historical, political, commercial and cultural relations between the two countries. Tajikistan has given importance to its ally, frien, and close relations in contemporary political and cultural relations in Central Asia, Tajikistan has also always supported Pakistan’s efforts in establishing peace in the region. Mutual respect between the two countries and common interests in the context of peace and development in the region have been of great importance. Moreover, the Pak-Tajik vision in the industrial sector, energy resources, trade, education, defens, and international affairs was also seen with respect. A network of roads and rail tracks is being set up between China, Pakista, and Tajikistan, which can play an important role in the development of all the countries of the region. Pakistan sees Tajikistan in the context of its strategic depth policy – this is a positive sum policy from which both countries will benefit – under this policy, Pakistan is economically, politically and defensively different from other countries in the region. In such a country, cooperation in the energy sector becomes important – an electricity supply project CASA-1000 (CASA-1000 electricity transmission and trade project) has been decided between the two countries – under this project between Tajikistan and Pakistan.
