Islamabad,  (Parliament Times): Aligned with its commitment to bolster Pakistan's workforce, the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) have forged a strategic alliance through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This collaboration underscores NAVTTC's pivotal role as Pakistan's apex body in shaping the nation's skills
training landscape, ushering in a new era of synergy between industry and academia.
This alliance sets the stage for NAVTTC and FPCCI to jointly elevate skills training initiatives to
unprecedented levels, with a primary focus on equipping individuals with the essential competencies
required to thrive in today's fiercely competitive job market.
Ms. Gulmina Bilal, Chairperson of NAVTTC, lauded the partnership as a significant step towards fulfilling
the nation's aspirations for a skilled workforce. She emphasized, "This partnership represents a
monumental stride towards realizing our vision of a skilled Pakistan we need to devise strict timelines
and action plans to bridge industry-training gaps”.
Echoing these sentiments, Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, emphasized the pivotal role of
industry-academia collaboration in steering Pakistan towards prosperity. He asserted, "NAVTTC is
playing a crucial role in strengthening the country's economy, and we are here to support NAVTTC in any
way possible." He also underscored the importance of utilizing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and
directed his team to collaborate with NAVTTC to arrange RPL certification for workers in industrial
estates.
Mr. Atif and other Chamber office bearers highlighted the growing need to train the existing labor force
to operate modern machinery, pointing out a gap wherein foreign expertise is often relied upon to
operate automated, modern plants in industries. They emphasized the necessity for collaborative efforts
to bridge this market gap.
Under the ambit of the MOU, FPCCI will spearhead on-the-job training initiatives, identify industry-
relevant training avenues, and facilitate comprehensive assessments of trainees' performance.
Conversely, NAVTTC will nominate eligible trainees, provide skilled youth for on-the-job training, and
engage industry experts in refining qualification frameworks to meet contemporary demands.
The signing of this MOU symbolizes NAVTTC and FPCCI's shared vision for a prosperous Pakistan,
underpinned by a robust, industry-aligned skills ecosystem poised to propel the nation towards
enduring economic prosperity.
