Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Ambassador Albert P. Khorev, representing the Russian Federation, held constructive discussions with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today, focusing on bolstering bilateral ties and solidarity.

Prime Minister Sharif conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of Pakistan for the recent tragic incident at Crocus City Hall near Moscow, reaffirming unwavering support for Russia during this challenging period.

Gratefully acknowledging President Vladimir Putin’s congratulatory message on his re-election, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to strengthening historical bonds and fostering increased collaboration with Russia, particularly in energy, trade, and investment sectors.

Underlining the importance of the Inter-governmental Commission (IGC), Prime Minister Sharif advocated for the expeditious convening of its 9th session, scheduled to be hosted by Russia later this year, stressing the need for constructive dialogue to boost bilateral trade and investment.

Recalling the fruitful interactions during the SCO Summit in Samarkand in 2022, Prime Minister Sharif extended another invitation to President Putin for an official visit to Pakistan, highlighting the significance of high-level engagements in advancing bilateral relations.

Ambassador Khorev affirmed Russia’s dedication to nurturing stronger ties with Pakistan, expressing mutual interest in expanding cooperation beyond energy, trade, and investment to include education and cultural exchange. Both nations, active participants in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reaffirmed their commitment to regional collaboration.
