Lahore, (PR) : Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has approved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of ten bridges in Punjab under the Punjab Khushaal Program. Following the approval, the Provincial Minister for Communications and Works, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth, initiated the process for the reconstruction of ten severely damaged bridges in the province.

Speaking on the matter, the Provincial Minister highlighted that the reconstruction of ten highly deteriorated bridges will commence in the coming days. With a budget of Rs. 20.3 million, eight dilapidated bridges will undergo reconstruction. Additionally, the Department of Irrigation has been tasked with the reconstruction of two bridges in Lahore and Jhelum. Furthermore, the drainage channel bridge located on Link Road near Sialkot International Airport will be reconstructed within 30 to 60 days at a cost of Rs. 30 million. Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth mentioned that the bridge on Pand Dadan Khan and Lilla Road in Jhelum will be upgraded within 90 days with a budget of Rs. 30 million. Similarly, the drainage bridge on Jhang-Sargodha Road in Jhang District will be rehabilitated within 90 days at a cost of Rs. 25 million. In Sheikhupura district, the drainage bridge on Narowal-Muridke Road will be reconstructed within 45 days with a budget of Rs. 10 million. In Sialkot, the Gujranwala Pasrur Road bridge will undergo maintenance within 30 days at a cost of Rs. 10 million. In Faisalabad, the canal bridge on Faisalabad-Seamundra Road will be rehabilitated within 60 days at a cost of Rs. 35 million. Moreover, the drainage bridge on Chiniot-Pindi Bhattian Road in Hafizabad district will be reconstructed within 10 days with a budget of Rs. 3 million. Minister Bherth stated that the Khushab-Lila Road drainage bridge in Jhelum will be rehabilitated within 120 days at a cost of Rs. 60 million. The Department of Irrigation will undertake the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Pand Dadan Khan Road Balwal and Defence Road bridges in Lahore. During the reconstruction and rehabilitation of these bridges, alternative routes will be established to ensure smooth traffic flow.
