New York(Parliament Times) : The New York State Assembly and Senate have marked a historic day for the Pakistani community by passing multiple resolutions celebrating Pakistan’s rich heritage and culture. Spearheaded by the efforts of the American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG), the Assembly marked March as Pakistani American Heritage Month and August 14 as Pakistan Independence Day in the State of New York. The resolutions were passed unanimously by both the Assembly and Senate.
The historic occasion was graced by the presence of Pakistan’s Consul General Aamir Ahmad Atozai and Ali Rashid, who led the APAG team in Albany. Assemblyman Nader Sayegh presented the resolutions for Pakistan Month and Pakistan Day on March 23 in the State Assembly. Members of the State Assembly honored Ali Rashid, his team, and the Consul General with a standing ovation and a special citation. The Pakistani community also lauded the efforts of the APAG and its president, Ali Rashid, for their efforts in bringing recognition to Pakistan within the State Assembly and Senate.
