Islamabad(Parliament Times):  The grand celebration of the 261st Nepali Army Day was inaugurated with patriotic fervor at a local hotel in Islamabad. The event commenced with the stirring national anthems of both Nepal and Pakistan, resonating among esteemed guests, including defense officers, ambassadors, media, and civil society members.

Hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Tapas Adhikari, Ambassador, and Mr. & Mrs. Col Bhes Bahadur, Military Attache, the reception witnessed the gracious presence of Chairman National Disaster Management Authority
Lt. General Inam Haider, Chief Guest representing the armed forces of Pakistan. Distinguished envoys, Defense Attaches, and representatives from various countries also joined in the commemoration.

A symbolic moment unfolded as the Nepali Ambassador, accompanied by Chief Guest Lt. General Inam Haider and Nepali Military Attache Col Bhes Bahadur, cut a traditional cake. High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and India, among others, added to the international representation at this prestigious event.

Ambassador Tapas Adhikari shared insights into the historical significance of Nepali Army Day, highlighting its establishment in 1762 AD. He emphasized the Nepali Army’s enduring legacy, being one of the world’s oldest and unwavering military institutions, dedicated to a rich history of bravery and service as a vital organ of Nepal’s national security.

Colonel Bhes Bahadur, Nepal’s Military Attache, elucidated on the salient features that distinguish the Nepali Army, underscoring its prominence among global military forces. Notably, he highlighted the continuous contributions to UN peacekeeping operations since 1958, showcasing Nepal’s commitment to global peace and security.

The reception encapsulated a harmonious blend of diplomatic exchanges, cultural celebration, and acknowledgment of the Nepali Army’s remarkable journey. As the grand celebration unfolded, it reinforced the enduring bond between Nepal and Pakistan while fostering international collaboration in the pursuit of peace and security.
