Ancient Pashtun custom called “ghagh” subjects the girl to a lifelong stigma. It was a custom in Khyber pakhtunkhaw, basically a proclamation of ownership of a woman. a man fire gun outside the women’s house to whom he wants to marry without the approval of a girl or her parents. Ghagh is an “honour killing” act Consequently, the right to marriage is interfered with. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliament banned ghag forced marriages in 2013, Unofficial estimates suggest that in 2016, nearly twenty girls committed suicide following the claim of ghag. The punishment for ghag is not less than 3 years and up to seven years imprisonment and or payment of a fine of up to five hundred thousand rupees. According to ( unofficial )there are still many unreported cases. If they are to be believe then I think society has to move on and give the rights to girls to live their life accordingly or at least give them a chance to live according to shariat, Why are there still stereotypes for women only? when will this society change? Especially those people have to understand that girls are not property they can’t buy them, they are humans like men, and if you don’t want them to be part of human rights, then at least let them live according to our religion, they have the right to choose their partners they have all the rights and they should get their fundamental rights because almighty have given them rights people are no one to reject or object them. I think awareness about women’s rights and activist campaigns for their fundamental rights should be spread to those regions who still don’t know about women’s rights, relevant authorities and women right activists should have strict take on violation of women rights.
