Mirpur, (AJK) (Parliament Times) : On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, a seminar was held in Allama Iqbal Open University Mirpur Campus, Organized by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy ,which was presided over by Director General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy, Faizan Arif Mughal.

While British journalist Sajid Yousaf, director of NUML University Colonel Retired Tahir Najeeb Raja and Regional Director Allama Iqbal Open University Sheikh Faisal Shahzad were among the guests.

The duties of the stage secretary were performed by Prof. Khawaja Khurshid Ahmad Khurshid of the Institute of Interpretation.

Former director of Mian Muhammad Bakhsh Library Professor Dr. Zubair Ahmed Qazi and former station director of Radio Pakistan Muhammad Shakeel presented papers on the importance and usefulness of mother tongues in the gathering and seminar while Professor Saghir Ase, Malik Muhammad Azam, Aftab Ahmed Bazmi, Ghulam Sarwar Rana, Dr. Tahir Mehmood, Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik, Javed Rehman Qureshi, Zulfiqar Asad, Leader of All Treaders Raja Khalid Mehmood, Farooq Jaral of Jammu and Kashmir Writers Forum, Rashid Akram, and Ali Noord presented the address and speech in mother tongue.

Among the guests in seminars, former Registrar Prof, Mr. Waris Jaral, former Director Mian Muhammad Bakhsh Library Professor Abdul Razzaq Chaudhry, former Divisional Director of Schools Muhammad Afzal Baig, former Assistant Commissioner Inland Revenue Mirza Talat Hussain, former Assembly Candidate Shahzad Iqbal, Malik Bashir Murad, former DEO Sagheer Qadri, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party President Ch. Munir Advocate, former Press Secretary Zafar Iqbal Mughal, Syed Shabbir Shah, Muhammad Talah, Sardar Hafeezullah, Kashif Akbar, Faizan Advocate, Khawaja Waheed and others related to knowledge and literature and scholars presented speeches in their mother tongues Punjabi and Pahari.

NUML University Director Colonel Retired Tahir Najeeb Raja has said that the importance of language in human development has its own place, but with all of them, the role of human being is important. Mirpur is a fertile region in terms of knowledge and literature. Along with education and training, pay attention to exemplary character so that no one points a finger at the character of our young generation. In this regard, special attention needs to be paid to language and character building. He assured all kinds of support for promotion.

Ch. Sajid Yousaf, the chief guest of the event, said that today’s prestigious event will have far-reaching results, as the mother tongue and mountain languages ??were part of the identity and culture of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. After independence, we have not highlighted our culture in such a way that the access of our young generation to local languages ??is decreasing. Civilization and culture can be protected.

Director General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy Faizan Arif Mughal while thanking the participants of the event said that Azad Kashmir has lost two recent academic and literary figures like Rana Ghulam Fazal Hussain and Mirza Zahidullah, which has caused a great loss to the state.

He said that the Kashmir Cultural Academy was taking all possible steps to highlight the Kashmiri civilization and culture on the instructions of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

He said that due to the importance of the mother tongue, the curriculum was now being compiled in regional and mother tongues. He said that Azad Jammu and Kashmir will play an active role in the development of all the regional mother tongues. He said that Kashmiri measures will be taken to promote other local languages ??including Gujri languages. Efforts are on to make the mother tongue a part of the curriculum.

He asked whether India was taking nefarious steps to distort the culture of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The so-called decisions of the Supreme Court of India can not end the special status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that India was committing atrocities on Kashmiris only because Kashmiris were fighting a war for Pakistan’s completion and this war will continue till then until the occupied state of Jammu and Kashmir becomes free from the clutches of India and becomes a part of Pakistan.

Speaking at the ceremony, other speakers said that there was no substitute for mother tongues, the true reflection of love and affection was seen in mother tongues, currently more than 6 thousand languages ??are spoken in the world. The United Nations has recognized the importance of mother tongues. In the ceremony, Allama Iqbal Open University’s student Ambraena Maqbool presented Kalam Iqbal on the horn and received a standing ovation from the audience.
