MIRPUR ( AJK ),  (Parliament Times) : Under the spirit to turn orphans besides shelterless and down-trodden kids self supported and self-reliant being useful and distinguished citizens of the country, renowned UK-based NGO Muslim Hands here Thursday launched General Payment Distribution Welfare drive under the Muslim Hands Orphan Sponsorship program.

Our Special Jammu and Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports that Mirpur Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz Chaudhry was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony hosted at Football Academy ground here Thursday morning.

The ceremony was also attended and addressed among others by SSP Mirpur Kamran Ali, President PMA Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, General Secretary District Bar Mr. Fazal-e-Raziq and President Mirpur-AJK Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sabir Hussain Shah.

The distinguished guests, on this occasion, interacted with the orphan children and encouraged them by sharing their success stories to chase their dreams by never ever giving up.

Addressing the ceremony, speakers includund DC Yasir Riaz Ch. SSP Kamran Ali and others lauded the untiring efforts and voluntary activities of Muslim Hands in taking care of the orphans and providing them with all the possible opportunities to prosper in life, besides series of other healthy activities for the betterment and rehabilitation of the ailing humanity in various sections of life in various parts of the world including Pakistan and AJK.

Speakers inspired the children as a precedence of “Hard work never goes in vain”.

” No matter what the circumstances may be if you are determined to focus for achievement of all of your dreams”, speakers said.

The guests distributed financial relief package besides school uniforms among the orphans on behalf of the Muslim Hands.

Qanar Atta Raja, head Media Wing Muslim Hands AJK told our Special Jammu Kashmir Correspondent on this occasion that the mass welfare program exclusively meant for the rehabilitation of orphans include the primary goals of alleviating poverty, ensuring good Health and Well-being, delivery of Quality Education, ensuring gender equality with prime focus of reducing Inequalities, he added.

Qamar said that Muslim Hands Orphan Sponsorship program organized the cash relief distribution ceremony exclusively for its sponsored orphans at the Muslim Hands Football Academy.

More than 200 orphans who are enrolled in the Orphan Sponsorship Program received the cash relief at the ceremony.

The financial relief was aimed at to help the orphans and their families with their educational expenses and to motivate them to continue their studies.

The saliant features of the welfare program invloved the alignment of the Orphan Sponsorship Program with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality,SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, Qamar concluded.
