The current episode of bloodshed between Israel and Palestinians, the Zenoist movement, and the greater Israel plan is decades old. Aljazeera in one of its documentaries reports that in 1799 Nepolean Bonaparte had suggested that a Zenoist state should be established in Palestine. When Lord Palmstern was the Foreign Minister of the Britain he wrote to its ambassador to Istanbul that the Sultan should open Phalastine for Jews so that to comabat Egyptian governor Muhammad Ali. It was the time when the incumbent governor was a huge opponent of the British who didn’t match British interests.
Slowly and steadily settlements were statted and influential and rich people such as Barren Admand, James De Rothshldi provided funds and brought Jews from Europe and settled them in Palestine. The first city Rayshon Litsiyon was founded in 1882. In 1885, an Asurian writer Nethen Burnbam used the word Zeonism first when people used to migrate from the Eastern Europe to Phalastine. In addition, an Austian-Hungian writer Dr. Theodor Herzal predicted a Jewish state in the 20th century in his book, ‘The Jewish State’.
In 1897, Bernbam ,Herzal, and Nordo initiated the first Zenoist conference in Bassal, Switzerland in which the dream of a Zoisnist state was envisioned. In 1907, a British Zionist leader Chaim Wizman who was a Chamist too also proposed a buffer state in the Middle East. For the fulfillment of his aim he bought some land near Jafa Baitul Muqadas and then in Murj bin Amir where he settled 60 thousand Europeans who were mostly Jews. A Palastinian Pharmist Najeeb Nasar started Aljarmal newspaper against it so that to get people aware about that colonialism.
In January 1915, a politician of liberal party Herbert Simyel prepared a secret Memo about the future of Phalastine, which envisaged an independent Zeonist state. On November 9, 1917, the British officially announced the establishment of a Jewish state. A huge resistance started since then. Protests took place for months. Later on, Israel came into existence on May 14, 1948 by David Bin Goryan as PM. The newly born country was recognized by the USA and the US. Tensions rose between Israel and Arab states such as Jorden, Egypt, and Syria. In 1956 when Israel invaded Sinai peninsula, Consequently, Egypt, Syria, and Jorden singed mutual defense pact to prevent Israeli agression. A six day war in 1967 took place when Israel attacked Egypt and Syrian air system. In that war Israel captured Sinai peninsula, Golan Heights from Syria, Gaza strip from Egypt and the west bank from Jorden. In 1973 Egypt and Syria lauched attacked on Youm Kapoor against Israel to capture back their territories. But with no victory.
Many peace efforts have been started for decades but never materialized yet. In 1979 Camp David accord took place for peace between Israel and Egypt. That accord though improved relations between Israel and Egypt but the issue of Phalastine of self governance and self determination remained unresolved. In 1987 thousends of Palastinians living in Gaza strip and west bank rose against Israel which is know in history as Intifada uprising. In 1993 Oslo 1 accord meant to recognize both states eachother. In 1995 Oslo 2 accord aimed to withdraw Israel forces from 6 cities and 450 towns in the west bank. Both accords did not bring results. Second intifada started 2000. In 2002 Israel started constitution of barriers wall across the west bank in 2002 despite the opposition of the ICJ international court of Justice and ICC international criminal court Israel settlements in the west bank. Moreover, in 2002, the Arab world proposed a peace plan and offered normalization of mutual ties with Israel provided that Israel goes back to the position prior to the war of 1967.
The role of the UNO has not been satisfactory. Although, it has passed many resolutions but those resolutions have remained resolutions. In addition, the international community has zipped its mouth on the atrocities inflicted by Israel on Phalastinen people. A UN resolution 181 which aimed two states solution envisaged a new state of Israel near River Jorden. Phalastine and Arab world rejected that resolution and opined that how only 5.5 percent Jews living in the areas can get a states and representation of 56 percent. For Phalastine the two states solution meant the creation of Phalastine in the west bank and Ghaza Strip as it was prior to the occupation of Israel in the 1967 war.
In addition, in December 1998, the UN adopted a resolution 194 and accepted that the Phalastine have the right to live in their homes which that had left in the war of 1948. That displacement was the result of the first Arab Israel war which ended in 1949 causing 7.5 million displacement of Palastinians. That further divided the land into three parts vis a vis the state of Israel, the West bank (of the Jordan Rivier),and the Gaza strip. After the war of 1967 the UNO adopted resolution 242 and called upon Israel to leave occupied territories. After Youm Kappor war security council calls upon Israel in its resolution 338 to leave occupied territories.
The international system beats the drum and mantra of peace but listen those who have guns at hands. The UN guiding principles are to prevent tevent wars, to peace, to agression, to self determination, to atrocities , humab rights, genocide, war crimes. With respect to Phalastine the UNO has failed in (R2P) responsiblity to protect. Israel’s Defense Minister ordered total blockade on Gaza, saying there will be ‘no electricity, no food, no fuel. This War crime is still out of the agenda of the UNO.
The role of Muslim Umma is not appreciable too. It is still confined to give lip service over the brutalities of Israeli forces in Phalastine. Recently, Iranian Foreign Minister in the OIC meeting in Jeddah said that Oil embargo and sanctions on Israel by Muslim staes should be taken at least. At current, three Muslim states the UAE, Jordan and Egypt have recognized Israel while Turkey has normal diplomatic and trade relations. Despite the genocide of the people of Palestine, these Muslim countries have continued bilateral trade and diplomatic relations.
The stance of Pakistan regarding the issue of Palestine is clear. It supports the self role of Phalastine and rejects Israeli occupation. Pakistan backs two states solution with pre 1967 borders and Al Aqsa Al Quda Sharif (Jerusalem) as the capital of Phalastine. It demands ending illegal settlements. It rejects the Jewish settlements in the lands occupied by Israel in 1967 are illegal. Pakistan also supports Phalastinian stance of 5.6 million Palastinian refugees who were fled in 1948 Who fled from Ghaza and the West bank from Israeli occupation and are living in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon should be allowed to come back
Phalastine is bleeding. The UNO, international community, and Muslim countries have failed to resolve this decades old conflict. It needs farsightedness, unbiased approach rather than duplicity. Will sanity prevail? The hopes are limited.
