Brussels ( Parliament Times): Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) in a webinar on Kashmir’s’ Black Day called the international community to help the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir to end the Indian occupation of their beloved homeland.
The webinar organized by Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) on the eve of the day of occupation of Jammu and Kashmir was attended by European intellectuals, human rights activists, and journalists. Other speakers also called for the end of the occupation of oppressed and weak nations including Kashmiris, Ukrainians, and Palestinians.
People on both sides of the line of control dividing the Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmiris based in the rest of the world observe black day on October 27 every year to mark strong protest and express their anger against the continual forced and unlawful Indian occupation of their beloved land of Jammu and Kashmir for the last 76 years since the day of occupation. It was October 27, 1947, when New Delhi forcibly landed her occupational armed military troops in the territory of Kashmir.
Presiding the webinar, Chairman KC-EU Ali Raza Syed said, India occupied a large part of Jammu and Kashmir for the last 76 years. Every year, we observe the day of occupation as the black day and we hold protests on the black day every year. He said, that 76 years before, India unlawfully invaded the territory of Jammu and Kashmir and continued its illegal occupation of the Kashmiris’ land.
He said, some of the major powers misuse their military power and by violating the international norms occupy the weak nations which should not be acceptable for any reason. The chair of KC-EU calls on the international community and world civil societies to play their role in ending the occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. He added attack on civilians and non-combatants in the war or other violence against them is not acceptable at any cost. He expressed his concerns about the killing of civilians and innocent people in both Palestine and Israel but said, the killing of civilians including children, women, and elders in revenge for killing of other civilians cannot be justified in any law.
Addressing the webinar, Hungarian Journalist Mikulas Kriwansky said, that governments greedy for power and selfish invade the weak states under different pretexts. He said, that although there are conventions and other international laws to prevent the massacre and genocide of civilians, these laws are not being respected. The role of civil society is very important in maintaining peace and stability but currently, civil society has remained inactive in the context.
Another European intellectual Andre Barcs said that the international community should stop killing civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, Palestine, and Ukraine and that illegal occupation of Kashmir and Ukraine should be ended. He added violence is always incorrect, and Europe should not be silent on the violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir. Killings of civilians and innocent people in all parts of the world including Kashmir, Palestine, Israel, and Ukraine should be discouraged.
Talking about Ukraine’s war, the Ukrainian Journalist Anna Panova spoke about her story of the sadness and suffering of people of Ukraine from the war since early last year. She expressed her gratitude to the world community for support in this difficult time.
