Former President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Dr. Shahid Rasheed Butt on Monday said the Indian Foreign Minister lacks diplomatic norms.
Following the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in India, Jaishankar acted like a councillor of the extremist BJP rather than a foreign minister of the world’s fifth-largest economy, he said.
Shahid Rasheed Butt said that the attitude of the Indian foreign minister has eliminated the possibility of any kind of political and economic cooperation with Pakistan.
In a statement issued here today, he said that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tackled the situation with utmost courage and used his diplomatic skills to embarrass the Indians.
He said that Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar avoided shaking hands with Pakistani Foreign Minister, he called Pakistan a supporter of terrorists, occupied Kashmir as India’s integral part, and rejected the possibility of resuming talks with Pakistan.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari remained calm and said that regional countries are working together to deal with global problems, especially climate change, poverty and terrorism under the SCO.
He said that Pakistan fully adheres to the principles of mutual trust, equality, respect for cultural diversity and the pursuit of common development.
Bilawal said that Afghanistan continues to be a battleground for the big powers, we should not repeat the mistakes of the past regarding Afghanistan and urged the international community to adopt universally accepted principles for Afghanistan.
Emphasis should be placed on respecting the rights of all Afghans, including the right to education, while the international community should also help build counter-terrorism capacity for the security of Afghanistan, the foreign minister demanded.
Shahid Rashid Butt said that Bilawal Zardari, as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, has shown a mirror to the Indians and New Delhi will remember the diplomatic beating for a long time.
