Balochistan (Parliament Times) : Balochistan food authority inspection teams while keeping a special watch on the quality of food items during Ramadan on the instructions of the Director General Balochistan Food Authority. During the ongoing operations in this regard, fines were imposed on more than 10 food and drink centres including milk shops and bakeries in Zhob, Pashen and Mastung.
According to the details, while inspecting the centres of Pashen City, Balochistan food authority inspection teams took action against 4 bakers for violation of rules, dirt in baking units of bakeries, presence of flies in sweets, and prepared items in unsanitary conditions. Storage, absence of manufacturing and expiry dates on final products and poor personal hygiene of workers were found.
The owners and managers of the bakers were instructed to ensure proper implementation of the SOPs provided by the Balochistan food authority not only during Ramadan but also during normal days. In addition, mastongs were used to check the quality of various edible items including milk. During the inspection, the action was taken against 4 milk shops for adulteration of milk and 1 bakery for selling prohibited and harmful products.
Under the leadership of the Divisional Director (Qalat), Balochistan food authority officials took samples from several milk shops for milk testing and checked them at the mobile lab, during which Assistant Commissioner Mastung also accompanied the inspection teams. DI Khan, while checking food centres on the main highway, imposed fines on one hotel for violating rules and one general store for selling expired cold drinks and other products during Ramadan. According to Divisional Director Balochistan food authority (Zhob) Khadim Hussain, the cleanliness and storage system of the hotel was found to be very poor. Expired cold drinks, spices and biscuits were recovered from the general store, which was confiscated and later destroyed.
