Ghulam Yaseen Nizami

Hazrat Fatimah (R.A) the daughter of ourHoly Prophet (P.B.U.H) was born shortly before the beginning of the Mission of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). She was matchless in character as a daughter, as a wife, as a mother. The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) loved her and honored her. She was patient, devoted to Islam, generous, chaste, devout and thankful to Allah. She was most generous among the people. She was a copy of the good character of beloved Holy Prophet. Especially the character she presented towards the Muslim woman that is matchless and there would no other example like that. She brought water in the pitcher by herself which resulted into formation of marks on her shoulder. She grounded the mill in such a condition that Imam Husain(R.A) was in her leap, Imam Hassan (R.A)was on her shoulder, her hands are grinding mill and her tongue was reciting the Qur‘an. For many times she spent up to three days hungry but she did not complained it. She spent nights in the worship of Allah. All the characteristics should be found in a good lady were found in her.

Her nature was simple from her childhood and she was not fond of playing from early age. She did not like to go somewhere and would sit beside her mother. Her habits were most liked by Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H), so she was blessed. Her speech most closely resembled that of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). It was narrated that Aishasaid: I never saw anyone whose speech more closely resembled that of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H)than Fatimah. When she entered upon him, he would stand up to greet her, kiss her and welcome her, and she would do the same for him. It was narrated fromAisha said: Fatimah came walking in the manner of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H)said, Welcome, O my daughter. Then he seated her to his right or to his left, then he said something privately to her and she wept. I said to her, ‘Why are you weeping?’ Then he said something privately to her and she smiled. I said, ‘I have never seen anything like that which I have seen today, of joy so close to grief.’ I asked her what he had said, and she said, ‘I would not disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah. When the Prophetpassed away, I asked her and she said, ‘He told me, Gabriel used to review Qur‘an with me once every year but this year he has reviewed it with me twice, so I know that my appointed time (of death) is approaching. And you will be the first of my family to join me. So I wept. Then he said, would it not please you to be the leader of the women of Paradise or the women of the believers? So I smiled. Among the things that prove her virtue is that which was reported that the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) used to pray at the House of Allah and nonbelievers were sitting there.

They said to one another, ‘Who will bring the intestines of the camel and put it on Muhammad’s back when he prostrates?’ So the most wretched of people went and brought it and waited until Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) prostrated, then he put it on his back, between his shoulders. I was watching but I could not help him because I did not have any power. They started laughing and leaning against one another (because of their laughter) and the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H)was prostrating and did not raise his head until Fatimah came and removed it from his back. ThenHoly Prophet(P.B.U.H) raised his head, and said, ‘O Allah, deal with them, three times. They became worried when he prayed against them, because they used to believe that prayers made in that land would be answered.Among her virtues was also thatHoly Prophet (P.B.U.H)said: Fatimah is a part of me, and whoever angers her, angers me. She is a role model for all times.

Allah made her the exemplar of a perfect woman so that women of all ages could follow her. The Almighty Allah made the flawless household of the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) survive through Fatimah’s very existence. Her home was the place where the banner of Islam would be transferred from the Holy Prophet to Imam Ali (R.A)her husband and his children. The residents of Fatima’s home were all among the divinely selected people who surpassed people at all times in terms of science, logic, piety, justice, and righteousness. She is the role model for the women of all ages in term of kindness, patience, and righteousness. We should try to follow her lifestyle in all matters of our life. She had three sons and two daughters.Shewas most modes, pious and shy. Her illness did not stop her to do worship of Allah and serving her husband. She did her house chores by herself even during her illness. She passed away at 3rd Ramadan. Due to her modesty she liked that her funeral should be covered by something and no man can see it so her wish was fulfilled and her funeral was covered with bushes. For the daughter of Islam, for wives and for mothers there are a lot of lessons in her life.
