Turbat, (Parliament Times) : In collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC), the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Program 2022, was held at the University of Turbat (UoT). The event was divided into different segments including speeches, a presentation, and drama to spread awareness regarding one of the most common types of diseases like breast cancer among women. Ms. ZahidaMehrab, Lecturer, English Department was the Focal Person of the event. Sharing their views on the occasion, the medical experts empathized the idea that no disease was to be considered a taboo as that would jeopardize the health of a community with dire consequences.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. RubeenaAmjad, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Mekran Medical College, Turbat delivered an informative session on the causes, symptoms, and treatment of breast cancer. In order to create awareness among masses, Dr. Hayat Baloch, Consultant General Surgeon Teaching Hospital Turbat shared a research based presentation on the early signs of breast cancer, self-examination, and myths about it. While sharing her expert views, Dr. Asifa, Gynecologist, Teaching Hospital Turbat highlighted the consequences of breast cancer in the lives of women. Stressing the need for creating awareness about breast cancer, the speakers said that breast cancer was curable if it was diagnosed at an early stage and treated accordingly. They insisted on effective measures to create greater awareness about removing the social barriers that prevent a breast cancer patient from discussing her problems with parents or elders of the family.On behalf of Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, University of Turbat, Dr. RiazMazar Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) shared his views on importance of organizing awareness. program in order to educate the society regarding rise of the diseases like breast cancer among females. He said that under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the University of Turbat is committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities for the welfare of the people in the area. At the end of the event Dr. RiazMazar on behalf of Vice Chancellor presented shields to the organizers and speakers of the program.
