After facing the recent flood in my district, I came to the conclusion, that Over the past two decades, the issue of climate change has raised major concern about the well-being of recent natural calamities as well as the future. Climate change refers to long-term changes in global temperature and other characteristics of the temperature. This issue started in the 1830s after the industrial revolution,so industries and technology did not only bring us benefits but also devastating impacts to our society. As we touched on earlier, a huge portion of climate change or global warming can be attributed to our reliance on industrial activities over the years. Toxic materials and gases are burned and released into the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide and methane.Mostly these gasses are emitting from our day to day activities like Everyone is using self transport and nobody is thinking about pollution.Factories, cars, bikes, etc are the major cause of Air pollution, besides this burning the wasted(garbage) is also major concern. But the most drastic effect is deforestation, and every individual is involved. Pakistan’s flooding is also a combination of corruption, mismanagement. The leaders themselves are involved in corruption. They themself get money and not take action against timber mafia and others like the people who harms the environment.People with political connections have been involved in the illegal cutting of green trees, smuggling and depriving local communities of the forest royalty.According to official documents available with Dawn, PTI leader Abdul Latif, who was the party’s candidate for National Assembly seat of Chitral in the 2013 and 2018 elections, was fined Rs41.34 million by the forest department for cutting 18,754 cubic feet of unmarked green trees in Rumbur valley in 2013. Pakistan is currently experiencing one of the worst environmental disasters in the world. One-third of the country is under water. So these were some mismanagement of leaders. Now let’s talk about the people’s view to Environment. We see in our society when something bad is happening then they mention that it’s because of sins, and mostly the poor people are suffering but have we ever thought that rich people are doing more sins. Then why are they not suffering? In other words, rich people cause more damage to the environment,Like they are using more cars, emitting more gasses like methane, but the poor are suffering. Poor people are facing the floods .So every individual must be aware about climate issues. .Humans faced a lot of hurdles throughout history. The floods in pakistan began in late july 2010 which the areas like Balochistan, kyberpakhtunkhwa, and sindh were badly effaced, and many loses were faced. This year’s monsoon rains triggered the most severe flooding in Pakistan’s recent history, and washed away many villages and left almost 10 million children in need of lifesaving support. According to OCHA; 765K houses destroyed,1.14M houses damaged,12.7K kilometres of roads damaged,1.5K people killed,12.9K people injured’936K livestock lost. Major provinces in Pakistan such as Balochistan, Sindh, and Kyberpakhtunkhwa are badly affected by flood. Therefore government must make organization for awareness in every village because we know that most of the people in our country even don’t know the climate change and their impact on our society.Secondly,we all (including rich, poor)must use public transport. The three most prominent benefits of using Public Transport over single-occupancy vehicles includes the reduction of carbon emissions, air pollution (which results in better air quality) and congestion on roads—including traffic. When greenhouse gases—carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane—are emitted into the atmosphere and trap heat, we witness detrimental impacts on the environment—such as climate change. Of our global emissions, 29% can be directly attributed to transport, which means that if society were to change commuting habits and increase its use of uptake public transport, emissions can be reduced annually by 37 million metric tons according to the C2ES. Others remedies, that we should share our ride like uber, indrive, careem whatever we should share with others that will help us and give us benefits like emitting less greenhouse gasses and save money.Leaders must strictly implement the rules for timber mafia and others, because there is no magical technology coming to save us from ourselves. So we must wake up before it’s too late to save humanity. If we are not taking action against these drastic events then the cities which are close to water will drown, as many cities already drowned.Trees need to be planted and exhaust from cars and factories should be purified before releasing it back into the atmosphere.Corruption and mismanagement must be eradicate.Last but not least everyone must be aware about climate change.Only then can we hope to control the drastic floods.
