Islamabad (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan held an important meeting with Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence here today.
During the meeting the duo discussed in detail the issues of mutual interests as well as the prevailing political situation in the country. Speaking on the occasion the prime minister Sardar Tanvir Ilyas Khan while briefing the PTI Chairman about the forthcoming local government (LG) elections being held in the last week of November said that the municipal polls in the region were being held after a hiatus of 31 years.“
The credit for holding LG polls goes to Tehreek-e-Insaf, which took the landmark initiative to implement the party’s manifesto soon after coming to power in Azad Kashmir”, he said, adding that despite their lofty claims the successive governments had miserably failed to hold the elections during the last three decades.
The PM told the PTI chairman that the government’s decision to transfer power to the local government representatives was being highly appreciated by the people in Azad Kashmir. He said that the PTI would issue tickets to ideological workers after due consultations.He said that municipal elections would be instrumental in fair distribution of development funds and providing other facilities to the common man at grassroots level. He said that steps were being taken to build small dams to provide clean drinking water to the people.
The AJK premier also congratulated the PTI chairman for his landslide victory in recent bye-elections held in different parts of the country. Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan appreciated the steps taken by Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas regarding the holding of local body elections and advised him to continue the mission of providing all possible facilities to the people.
