RAWALPINDI: The World Egg Day is celebrated at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), here on Tuesday, with an aim to create public awareness about the nutritional value of eggs and its importance in human diet and nutritional value.
The Day, which was organized by the University’s Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in collaboration with World Poultry Science Association Pakistan, United State Soybean Export Council, Jadidi Group and SBGs,
On the occasion PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman was the chief guest while Mian Jan Muhammad Javed, President of World Poultry Science Association was the guest of honor.

PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor, while addressing, appreciated the organizers and participating students for organizing such a colorful event and said eggs have a vital role to play in feeding people around the world.
He highlighted the importance of egg hygiene in human life and said that the lack of animal nutrition can be met with their use. He assured full support from PMAS-AAUR to provide technical support to farmers for development in the poultry sector and emphasized on solving problems through research.
The speakers said in their address that modern research has shown that the underlying disorder of egg consumption has no clear association with increased heart disease and related diseases, nor is egg consumption associated with increased cholesterol levels. The speakers also said that the impression that one should not eat eggs in summer is also wrong. There is no harm in eating them, but they help a lot in breeding care. And it plays an important role in physical energy, structural protection, weight control, nerve strength, healthy motherhood, mental performance and hygiene and other reasons.
Earlier, an egg cooking competition and an awareness walk were also held at University in which a large number of students and faculty members participated.
