MIRPUR (Parliament Times) :  At least 06 people belonging to a same family were killed and 02 others injured after a private jeep fell into deep ravine Neelum valley district of Azad Jammu Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.

Potohar jeep (AC-435) bound for  Kundal Shahi from Jagran, with 08 persons on board,  fell into at least 2000 feet deep ravine after having been skidded off the road  at Sham Koli village leaving six of its occupants dead on the spot
Those ill-fated killed included two children and a woman, a senior Police Officer from Neelam valley told our Special AJK Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao when contacted Wednesday.

Those killed were identified as Muhammad dGul s/o Hassan Gull, Sheir Dill s/o Sheir Ahmed, Gul Hassan Bibi wife of Suhail Ahmed,  her husband Sohail Ahmed s/o Saraj Din, and two sons including Sohrab Ahmed and Zohaib Ahmed s/o Sohail Ahmed.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority, two of the  injured have also been shifted to DHQ Hospital, where their condition was stated to be serious.
Local administration, police and rescue 1122 were engaged in rescue operations till last reports came in.
.The sub-standard and self-altered old vehicles in top mountainous Neelam and other  far flung parts of Azad Jammu Kashmir usually meet the road accidents following over-loading or technical faults caused by the unbalancing and over-loading of such out-dated  private and public service vehicles resulting in loss of precious human lives, according to a study report compiled by this Special  AJK Correspondent.

Prime Minister  of  Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has expressed  profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the Neelum traffic accident has extended his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families.

Stressing the need for taking precautionary measures while traveling in the mountainous areas, the Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said in a condolence message late Wednesday that there was dire need to implement traffic rules to avoid such incidents in future.
The PM also sought a report on the incident and directed the concerned authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured.In order to make travel in mountainous areas safe, the Pm said, “Steps will be taken to make travel safe on the main roads and link roads of Azad Kashmir”.
“In this regard, a commission will be formed soon in which officials from all institutions will be involved to formulate a plan of action whereby human lives can be secured”, the AJK  said.
