Despite being rich in natural and human resources, Pakistan has always remained the state of crises. In seven and half decades since its independence, its progress seems negligible. Unlike the increasing prosperity and development taking place in its neighboring countries, the country has been coping with numerous issues, including political turmoil, dependence on foreign aid, unrealized geo-political landscape, security threats, inflation, poverty, unemployment, energy crisis, meager educational standard and health facilities and so on. Obviously, corruption on the large scale is engulfing territory’s economic means because the bounteous land can never face such multiple worries except mismanagement. For instance, Pakistan’s decreasing exports in the fields of software and Pharma and High-tech measured at 2 and 0.3 Billion USD respectively exacerbate its economic image. Indeed, those nations rise that ask for more. Bangladesh is one of them doing humanly for the welfare of its public through inculcating them with knowledge, skill and ability to earn. As per statistics of BGMEA (Bangladesh Manufactures and Exporters Association), its member factories hire 3.2 million women employees – that is 80 per cent of the total labor. In contrast, Pakistan’s successive governments might have prioritized the needs and rights of its nation in their respective policies. For instance, India’s manufactured “Born Electric SUV Car” on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee reveals the rift between standards of the vehicle industry of the two neighboring countries – meager achievements in that field at Pakistan’s side. Additionally, India’s scientific innovation is of worth praise as it announced the mission over Mars a few years back. Based on the aforementioned facts and figures, Pakistan is on the track where tragic history repeats itself as of the Ottomans’ decline who earned the title “the Sick Man of Europe” during World War I. Surprisingly but obviously, the country is struggling for the same recognition with a little bit difference of the words – the Sick Man of South Asia rather than of Europe. Given below are the reasons to estimate such prevailing situation: Dwindling of its foreign reserves leading the economic decline, Prevailing politics of aggression and intolerance, Increasing unemployment, poverty and inflation, Unaddressed energy and gas crisis, Escalating social safety, Debilitating education and health sector, especially in the far and flung areas of the country, Multiplying crime rate, and Dominancy of corruption, feudalism, nepotism and cronyism in each sector of the territory. Keeping in view the existing situation the nation is passing through, it is high time to carry on following agendas: Setting country’s priorities in the right way Elite-based control over the tiers of the country’s administration must be avoided Bringing transparency in law and justice system of the country It is the high time to make policies inclusive and public-centric without intervention of foreign powers. Their sole purpose should be enabling Pakistan a long term charter of economy Lastly, it is prerequisite to stop prevailed political polarization as well as institutions’ interference in other domains thus to lead Pakistan on the developmental path.
