LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) while accepting PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz plea has directed to return passport to her.
The petition filed by Maryam Nawaz seeking court’s orders in connection with return of her passport came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of LHC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Amir Bhatti Monday.
CJ Amir Bhatti inquired from Amjid Pervez Bhatti advocate had Maryam Nawaz earlier too filed petition regarding return of her passport.
The counsel for Maryam Nawaz said the old petitions have become ineffectual in the light of the present petition.
Amjid Pervez Advocate said Maryam Nawaz was granted bail after she deposited passport. 4 years have elapsed but no reference of Chaudhry Sugar Mills has come . Had they filed the case and Maryam Nawaz defended it then the situation would have been different. Stopping some one movement is issue of basic rights too.
He told the court Maryam Nawaz wanted this case would have been filed so that she would defend against this case. Delaying the case long is tantamount to misuse of law. The courts get abolish the case without seeing merit in the event of long delay.
Justice Amir Bhatti remarked that passport was kept by court for its own satisfaction. Had that satisfaction ended.
Counsel for Maryam Nawaz replied Maryam had waited for four years. No reference was filed nor was any investigation made.
Justice Amir Bhatti inquired again will we amend the part of condition in the decision of bail or will we take back this part.
Amjid Pervez advocate said the court can amend the order related to bail of Maryam Nawaz.
Justice AmirBhatti inquired what is response of federal government on it.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) said we have no objection in returning passport.
Justice Amir Bhatti inquired had appeal been filed against the bail of Maryam Nawaz.
Deputy Attorney General said he had no knowledge about it.
CJ Amir Bhatti remarked then who will tell about it or you have heard only one sentence that nothing has to be done.
