This letter refers to Hamid Mir’s article ‘Climate change is a bigger threat to Pakistan than terrorism’ (14 July 2022). The writer emphasizes that the climate change is a more dangerous threat than terrorism but the government is not paying attention and concern to it. Recent heavy monsoon rains are also the cause of climate change. Pakistan is currently going through a very tough time, Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan are submerged and the death toll exceeding 1000 which is alarming. A German think tank has recently ranked Pakistan fifth on the list of most threatened countries. climate change. Yale University’s Environmental Performance Index is even more alarming: it lists Pakistan at 176 (followed by Bangladesh at 177 and India at 180, far down). Lahore in Pakistan and Delhi in India is among the most polluted cities in the world. It is time to Government should show concern about this threat and try to deal with this otherwise Pakistan will face severe hurdles.
