The mental health crisis is one of the most prevailing crises to be tackled. Psychological disorders are widely spread since every fifth person in the country suffers from a sort of mental disorder. More worryingly, the victims talking no treatment for the disorder crossed 75 in the figures owing to considering it a taboo. The reason considerably believed is the daily surge in prices made the masses the victims of Hallucination that ultimately leads to the deadly disease of Schizophrenia. Already suffering from a severe identity crisis, the masses go through deeper and deeper problems sans any solution in sight. Living in poverty coerces emerging suicidal thoughts, agonies, other health crises, and suffering, and in some cases, the victim finds relief by getting rid of oneself from the surface. What is more worrisome is, that despite several cases of suicides, the government is paying a deaf ear to bring some solutions in order to hinder the prevailing subsequent cases of precious lives. In particular, the youth suffers the most. The driver behind the nation’s destiny is going through a most vulnerable phase of the health crisis, mental in particular. Owing to the subsequent rise in the number of cases, its direct impact emerges in the country’s resources, demographic statistics, and labor productivity. Depression is one of the biggest ailments facing the world. It is not a new phenomenon, but it continues to manifest itself in newer ways. For thousands of years, people around the world have been suffering from this lethal malady that at times leads victims to take their own lives. We rarely talk about this ailment, perhaps because it is difficult to quantify or maybe because we just do not want to talk about it. We fear that others would call us a ‘psycho’ if we tell them about our depression and we continue to suffer in silence. Depression differs from usual frustrations and short-term mood swings. A severe level of depression takes time to develop before it worsens. It makes people suffer in cognition, judgment, workplace interactions, and social interplay. In extreme cases, this leads to suicides. Around 800,000 people commit suicide globally every year, with depression being one of the leading causes. Getting treatment from a psychiatrist is considered taboo in Pakistani society, thus, this is another factor stopping victims to get treated timely. Many neurologists believe that the reason behind the alarming increase in mental disease is mostly inflation and the high tax burdens. The mental health crisis is a global health issue owing to its drastic consequences that eventually lead the victim out of the earth. In addition, though the malady’s history goes far long, the very breakout of covid-19 and almost year-long lockdown gave an alarming rise to the victims and victims mainly belonging to the working portion of the country. Since the victims go through stress and expectations at the same time, it ultimately leads the sufferer to death suicide. Fear of social stigma, an absence of awareness, lack of understanding of the malady, absence of psychiatrists, and poor financial conditions to meet doctor’s expenses are some leading causes complicating the lethal malady succinctly. Thus, the cases of suicides and mentally challenged individuals rise by the day. For every successive government, health remained a Holocaust task in general, mental health in particular. A pint-sized budget for the health sector is an act to aggravate the injuries. Though experienced doctors and psychiatrists suggest every ruling elite take measures to cope with increasing neglected malady promptly. It is estimated that about 50 million Pakistanis are suffering in silence from psychological issues, including depression. A survey jointly conducted by the Sindh Mental Health Authority and the Edhi Foundation reported that of the 1,494 people suffering from depression in the survey, 757 were based in urban areas and 737 belonged to rural areas. A serious lack of mental health awareness and a dearth of psychiatrists have only aggravated the problem. The victims of mental health can damage society considerably since they belong to both genders, almost all group ages even the trans are not behind. Thus, the danger looms large by the day for the government of Pakistan to tackle the danger with proper means and measures. The government should conduct comprehensive, collaborative, and coordinated campaigns through both mainstream and social media platforms and by making changes in the curriculum so that the country may get rid of this deadly illness without any further delay since the sole hope is to restrict the rising cases of victims is ruling elite and the minister of health services that need to promptly ensure the appropriate measure without any further delay and deterioration.
