Lahore: Director General of the European Union and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Ministry of Health Sclami Kilic and Turkish Consul General in Lahore Emir Ozbay along with a delegation called on Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman at Governor House, Lahore today. Ways to enhance bilateral cooperation especially in the field of health was discussed in the meeting. Holding of Pak Medica Expo and Health Business Forum was also discussed in the meeting.
Talking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that the historic fraternal relations between Pakistan and Turkey were based on love, brotherhood and mutual respect. He said that Turkey was the most trusted and sincere friend of Pakistan and the current government has given a new dimension to these relations. The Governor Punjab said that there are ample opportunities to promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of health, education, business, infrastructure and communication. He added that there is a need for exchange of delegations of experts between the two countries.
Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that development in education and health sectors, resolving energy crisis and alleviation of poverty is the top priority of the government. He said that Turkey has modern technology in the field of health with the help of which model hospitals can be set up in Pakistan. He said that Tayyub Erdogan Hospital was providing health facilities to the people of South Punjab. He said that the present government was providing a conducive environment for investment to the private companies. He said that a German company was working on a plan to set up a private hospital in Lahore while the Pak Medica Expo and Business Forum would provide an opportunity to benefit from Turkey’s advanced healthcare technology. The Governor Punjab said that holding of Pak Medica Expo and Business Forum will bode well for Pakistani and Turkish business community to explore trade opportunities in health sector
Later, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Romina Khurshid Alam along with a delegation called on Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman at Governor House Lahore today. During the meeting, Convener National Parliamentary Task Force SDG Romina Khurshid Alam gave a detailed briefing to the Governor of Punjab on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SGD Secretariat). She requested the Governor Punjab to make SDG a part of syllabus in universities.
Talking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that a consortium on climate change is being formed in the universities. He said that the goals of SDG have been set for the betterment of humanity, adding that all the institutions have a duty to play their due role in this.
