LAHORE: 25th May, 2022 – Public health’s policy advocacy is one of the important roles played by Health Services Academy (HSA), MoNHSR&C, Govt. of Pakistan. Continuing the journey as advocate of developing and strengthening the public health initiatives, HSA in partnership with World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, held a “Provincial Consultation” on Midwifery Strategic Framework, in Lahore, Pakistan, with key stakeholders. The meeting was held in Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore and chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Amir Zaman. The prime objective of this provincial level meeting was to share the national strategic framework with provincial stakeholders and subsequently deliberate the recommendations and devise the policy outlines. Notables from Punjab health department, public health office bearers, Midwifery Association Pakistan, Pakistan Nursing Council, as well as the technical agencies of UN took active part and discussed the significance of midwifery in improving the maternal, newborn, and child health in Punjab and across Pakistan. A draft strategy was also presented and deliberated upon by all the participants thoroughly. Their comments and feedback were taken to improve the framework, further steps towards this initiative would lead to ultimate reinforcement of midwifery in Pakistan. On this occasion the Vice Chancellor of FJMU, Dr. Zaman thanked the participants and solicited to step forward for strengthening of midwifery profession.
