Afghanistan has survived through heaps of catastrophic times. At times, it had to deal with invasions, and at other times, the country found itself endeavoring to navigate the way out of civil wars and domestic chaos. Regrettably its woes are not reaching to an end till to date. Around mid of last year, the USA decided to withdraw its troops from the country as Taliban took over Kabul and toppled the incumbent US-led government. It’s the second time, Taliban have seized the power in the country. First time, they ruled the country between 1996 and 2001. They were thrown out of power by America which invaded Afghanistan in the wake of the terrorist attacks on America. Places likes of Pentagon and the word bank were targeted in a series of shocking attacks. The incident took place on 11 September 2001 which was therefore, named 9/11 attacks. Nobody ever imagined about such an incident would ever emerge that’s too in a formidable country like of America. It was a sheer horrible incident that sent a wave of fear across the world. Investigations were launched to discern and trace the culprits. Subsequently, the perpetrators who orchestrated and carried out the Attacks were identified. The prominent perpetrator was Osama Bin Laden, affiliated with Al Qaida (an organization that endeavors to bring Islamic laws in the world). George W. Bush was the president of America then who ordered the elimination of Al Qaeda group and in pursuit of it, the troops were deployed to get rid of terrorism menace by weeding out dens and hideouts of terrorists in Afghanistan. America had continued its war against terrorism for more than 20 years and in mid of last year, it decided to end its futile struggle purported at wiping out terrorism. It withdrew its troops from Afghanistan as the Taliban took over the country.Shortly after the historical decision of forces withdrawal, America announced rather a shocking news for the nascent government of Taliban by saying it has frozen all the funds of Central Bank of Afghanistan in America which amounted for around $7 billion. It asserted that the country didn’t want those funds fall in wrong hands and to be utilized on malafide practices. It was a very agonizing news for not just Taliban but also for the indigenous people. They had not anticipated any such kind of move post army’s withdrawal. The situation in Afghanistan further exacerbated when the World Bank and IMF also decided to suspend aids to Afghanistan. These moves from both America and other institutions ensued turbulent situation in Afghanistan which was inevitable to manifest as the country was deprived of not just their own funds but aids. The bizarre decision of Joe Biden administration to split the frozen funds in half is very devastating for Afghanistan people. Demonstrations are being carried out in Afghanistan to condemn such an unjustified move. Taliban also asserted that it’s an act of theft to steel money of rightful people of Afghanistan and warned that America would face consequences if it did so. Joy Biden has announced the half of frozen funds would be handed over to victims of terrorism and especially the people who suffered in The Attacks of 9/11.Afghanistan is facing severe challenges in form of mass starvation, economic instability, isolation from international community and many more. In such tough times which the country is going through, it has only way to steer itself out of these that is to get financial support from international community and especially besides getting back their frozen funds in America. Taliban are making all efforts in their capacity to get their funds unfrozen so that the masses in country who are finding arduous to live in such dreadful times to be given financial support and pulled out of their prevailing woes. Afghanistan needs every little push that it can get to keep itself afloat. Given its woeful situation, $7 billion of assets stuck in America are indispensably important for Afghanistan to receive. The surprising decision of incumbent government of America has garnered a mixture of reactions from different quarters. Some people have favored and endorsed the decision while others have opposed and denounced it. There has been seen a discord on decision between the government and Congress as well. Congress is against the decision and has categorically said the frozen funds belong to Afghanistan people and are supposed to be given back to them. Congress is against the decision and has categorically said the frozen funds belong to Afghanistan people and are supposed to be given back to them. Given the prevalent disastrous situation in Afghanistan, America must unfreeze all the frozen funds of Afghanistan before the country falls into colossal humanitarian crisis. It’s like America is plunging Afghanistan into calamity itself instead of trying to bring stability in country. And immediate suspension of aids from IMF and world bank has already put country into adversity as from a long time, the country has been relying on foreign aids. What adds more to Afghanistan’s woes is the move of Joe Biden administration to split the frozen funds. It signifies that if the decision of dividing the funds happens to be true then the country can only receive $3.5 billion. If the Afghanistan is not given what rightfully belongs to it, the country will succumb to piling and overwhelming pressure of trumbling economy and mass starvation. America must realize it that the people who were victim of terrorism have already stabilized their lives and got over the grief but the poverty-stricken people of Afghanistan are struggling to survive and so is the country to restore peace and bolster crippling economy. Besides, America needs to act sensibly as the people who were involved in the horrendous incident of 9/11 are not the general public of Afghanistan. It will be an unacceptable decision if America splits the money and hands half of it to destitute Afghanistanis that’s too when there’s no one more deserving than them. Unarguably, it is America which is supposed to compensate Afghanistan for its 20 years prolonged war that it perpetuated, and which devoured hundreds of thousand impeccable lives in lieu of seizing their funds and unilaterally deciding to split the money in half to share one portion in the victims of 9/11 and rest to return to Afghanistan. Keeping the current situation of country in view, it would not be wrong to say that the country needs any amount of financial from minute to colossal to keep itself functional and more importantly to ward of the unleashing humanitarian crisis which is brewing.
