CPNE  submitted a detailed note to the Ministry of Information regarding the interpretation of fake news: Kazim Khan

ISLAMABAD,(Parliament Times): A delegation of officials of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) called on former Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan. The meeting discussed in detail the fake news in the media and reviewed all the angles of fake news. The former prime minister was also informed that during the previous government, CPNE had submitted a detailed note to the Ministry of Information regarding the interpretation of fake news. And, this note has also been submitted to the present Minister of Information, which contains various forms, definitions and interpretations of fake news, and there is a need for defamation cases to be decided within a specified period.

Imran Khan said that rumor making and fake news is definitely a big issue. Journalists have a key role to play in curbing rumors and fake news. In response to a question, he said that his government has been removed under a plan. There is great anger among the people. A full-fledged campaign will be launched after Eid and the government will have to hold immediate elections. CPNE President Kazim Khan said that fake news and freedom of expression are two different things. Instead of blaming the media, it is necessary to correct one’s mistakes.
