Musk reached a 44 billion dollar deal to buy Twitter. He tweeted, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy”. It gives an idea that he brought it for freedom of speech. A great and considerable criticism has also been initiated apropos to the last year’s exchange of tweets between Musk and David Beasley, the director of UN’s Food program, who initially claimed that only 2 pc of Musk’s wealth could solve the World’s hunger. Elon Musk counter tweeted and asked if he could describe publicly how will it work and also indicated his willingness to contribute once he’s satisfied to which Beasley replied, ” be on the next flight to you” and also, “throw me out if you don’t like what you hear”. The fact is Elon Musk didn’t contribute 6 billion dollars to end or tend to end World Hunger. instead, he bought Twitter at almost 7 times higher price. Another Poverty expert in the fight against poverty, Jaffrey Sachs claimed in his book, ” The End of Poverty”, that the cost of ending poverty is 175 billion dollars per year for 20 years. The amount seems bigger but at the time of publication of his book, it was less than 1 pc of the combined income of the richest countries or it was equal to the US military budget of four years. The above arguments reflect that ending global poverty is possible by taking some ordinary measures and initiatives presented by scholars like Jaffrey Sachs and David Beasley.According to research, only 1 percent of people own half of the world’s resources. So, let me now gather the courage to say that poverty in any corner is neither an unfortunate phenomenon nor is it a natural disaster but it is a manmade and deliberate unequal distribution of resources.
