Naseebullah Khan
Will democracy strengthen if no confidence motion against Imran Khan is succeeded? Will anti democratic forces leave meddling in politics? The answer are, absolutley no.What a democratic evoluation demand are abiding by democratic norms within political parties, need of enhancing anti democratic sentiments among politicians towards establishment,s interference in politics, institutional balance, and making parliament the custodian of the constitution by all institutions. Unfortunately, these all are missing. At present, from PML N to PPP, from PTI to nationalist and religious parties, all have occupied by hierarchy, electables, and capitalists in one or another way. The presence and share of middle class workers is equall to none. This sorry state of affairs has stoped the ways of middle class workers to participate and enter in main political arena. The Tug of war for power and Power hungry politics have further deteriorated the democratic norms in the country. Democratic values have been sacrificed for the sack of political clutch which we have been observìng in the present no confidence move where the opposition have been repeating the mantra of neutrality of military establishment. While on the other side the politicians have been battling by using every undemocratic measure whether it is floor croosing or accepting turncoats in their parties. Notwithstanding, untill and unless the country enjoys institutional balance___ democracy cannot be cemented overnight. We have been witnessing that apart from establishment, the rest of institutions have failed to accept the superamacy of Parliament. The past 3 years exemplify that how the most important tier of tricotomy has been used against those politicians who had been averse to accept the hybrid regime of Imran Khan. The ouster of Imran Khan will neither end political crisis nor bloster democracy in Pakistan. Following true democratic norms in values within parties, institutional harmony and constitutionalism are the only viable solutions for intensifying democracy in the country. Piteously the country is lacking these elements. Without accepting their rules that have been portrayed in the constitution__ without working of tricotomy within constitutional sphere the dream of a Pakistan as a true democratic state will remain a dream.
