ISLAMABAD, (Parliament Times) : The Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture with Senator Irfan –ul-Haq-Siddiqui in the Chair on Tuesday rejected the Bill titled “The Pak University of Engineering & Technology University Bill, 2022” as passed by the National Assembly by majority vote of 5:1. Senator Fawzia Arshad abstained from voting on the Bill. The members were of the view that instead of the Establishment of a new university on a budget of millions of rupees preferably the existing resources should be enriched and utilized in the wider interest of the provision of quality education for students.
The Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture on Tuesday unanimously passed the Bill for Right to free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2022. The committee unanimously acknowledged the provision of free and compulsory education to children.
The committee approved the Budgetary Proposals of 12484.305 million rupees and 1532.142 million rupees of the Public Sector Development Project (PSDP) by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, and the National Heritage and Culture Division for the financial year 2022-23 respectively
