MOSCOW/KYIV :   Russia and Ukraine are heading towards talk as Ukrainian delegation arrives for negotiations after Kyiv claims pace of Russian offensive has slowed.
Per the international media reports, high level talks are set to take place between Ukraine and Russia on Ukraine-Belarus border.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calls the next 24 hours “crucial” for Ukraine while the military claims the pace of Russia’s assault has slowed. Civilian death toll now stands at 352 people, including 14 children, Ukraine’s health ministry says.
Ukraine has agreed to meet with a Russian delegation in Belarus, and Russians are heading to the place where the talks will be held, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, said Sunday.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Russian delegation is ready for the talks and waiting for their Ukrainian counterparts to arrive.
“As you know, President [of Belarus Alexander] Lukashenko had a phone call with President [of Ukraine Volodymyr] Zelenskyy. After that, president Lukashenko turned to the Russian side, to President [Vladimir] Putin, asking him not to recall the Russian delegation, as Ukraine signaled its willingness to come to the talks in the Gomel region,” Peskov said.
