Paris based journalists reject Media authority in Pakistan From Sardar Zulfiqar Aziz
Paris (Parliament Times):France-based Pakistani journalists based called on the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris the other day to express and register their concerns against the law of Pakistan Media Development Authority.
The journalists community representatives also presented a memorandum to the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris. On the occasion they said current government is out to cutting the freedom of the press in a new law called the Pakistan Development Authority to control the media. The proposed law is tantamount to suppressing freedom of expression.
All Pakistani journalists based in France have reservations about the new law , and if our concerns are not addressed, we will protest across Europe and raise our voices in the European Parliament as well . What is happening to journalists in Pakistan today has never happened in a dictatorial era. All the journalists’ organizations based in France are worried that we united and will play our role for the freedom of the press.
And we reject the current controversial Media Development Authority law, we will raise our voice against it at every forum. We request our government to address our concerns and ensure freedom of expression and freedom of the media in the country.
