Shangla/Kohistan: NGO NIDA Pakistan with the financial support of UNESCO Pakistan has launched Girls Rights to Education Program in different parts of Kohistan. The main objective of this program is to launch educational awareness campaign for girls and various activities in schools in collaboration with Kohistan Education Department. The program aims to provide furniture, shelter and school uniforms, books, Notebook etc for children in different schools. NIDA Pakistan, in collaboration with UNESCO, organized a one-day festival at Dasu Government Girls High School in Upper Kohistan, the main purpose of which was to highlight the hidden talents of the children as well as to encourage them. The girls participated and participate in various educational activities. The special guest of the function was District Education Officer Upper Kohistan Muhammad Amin, Addressing the function, he said that Kohistan is one of the most backward districts. Lack of education is the biggest problem here, he said, adding that an educated woman nurtures the whole family in the best possible way, women’s education needs time, for the development and prosperity of any society, both men and women. It is essential to be educated, the District Education Officer appreciated the efforts of NIDA Pakistan and UNESCO Pakistan and assured all kinds of cooperation. Addressing the function, Sadia Bangash, Federal Representative of UNESCO Pakistan, said, “Today, I am very happy that the girls from a backward and mountainous region like Kohistan have tremendous potential and potential, which is hidden from the eyes of the world. And because of the lack of opportunities, these girls are not delivering, which is unfortunate. Madam Sadia Bangash further said that her daughter’s best dowry is her education, which is the guarantor of her best future. She appreciated the performance and abilities of the girls participating in various activities of the education fair and assured that UNESCO Pakistan will continue to strive for further improvement and reform in the education sector in Kohistan, Officials of Nada Pakistan, dignitaries of the region and officials of the Education Department also participated in the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, prizes and trophies were distributed among the students who performed well in the education Festival.
