MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times) : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s nominee Abdul Qayyum Niazi has taken oath of office as 13th Prime Minister of Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir at a special ceremony held in the AJK State capital town on Wednesday.
AJK President Sardar Masood Khan administered the oath to Abdul Qayyum Niazi as the Prime Minister of the AJK Government.
Niazi was earlier elected as the PM of AJK on Wednesday after he was nominated by the PTI’s Supremo Imran Khan for the top slot of the AJK State Government.
Election to the office of the Prime Minister of AJK was held at a special session of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which met in the AJK State’s Metropolis with Speaker Ch. Anwar Ul Haq in the chair.
The victorious Abdul Qayyum Niazi secured 35 votes against his only rival candidate of the joint opposition in 53-seat Legislature Ch. Latif Akbar, who bagged only 15 votes.
Abdul Qayyum Niazi, a seasoned politician of AJK with long distinguished career in AJK politics and a former Minister in the Muslim~Conference led AJK State Government, belonged to Abbaspur Constituency of Poonch District of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Niazi had joined PTI two years ago.
He was elected as member of the AJK Legislative Assembly from Constituenct LA~18 Abbaspur (Poonch ~ 1) constituency being the nominated candidate of the PTI (AJK Chapter) in July 25, AJK general election ~ this year.
