Chicago,(Parliament Times): Kashmiris around the world will commemorate the 5thof August 2021 as a black day. Worldwide, the Kashmiri diaspora will protest in their capitals. In America a protest will be held in front of the White House in Washington DC. Prior to the protest, a collective meeting of Kashmiri representatives from various organizations working for the Kashmiri cause will be held to discuss and re-evaluate how to properly present the case of Kashmir’s freedom movement in America to relevant institutions and organizations around the world.
The decision to hold a collective meeting and protest was decided in a Zoom meeting hosted by Javid Rathore, Chairmen of the Kashmiri Solidarity Council. The following distinguished members of the Solidarity Council attended the Zoom meeting: Syed Arshed Hussain President KSC Canada Mujeeb Qazi, VP USA, Sardar Zareef Khan President of the Washington DC Chapter, General Secretary Shueib Arshad, Zubair Khan, Sardar Karamat Hussain, Saleem Qadri, Liaqat Kiani, Sardar Zahid Khan, Dr. Tahir Maroof, Raja Aftab, Imtiaz Khan, Talet Mahmood Khan, Syed Aftab Shah, Dr. Waseem Khawaja, Younis Mir, Mahmood Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Raja Ajaz Shaiqe, and Human Rights Wing president Raja Habib Jalib. The participants of the Zoom meeting unanimously agreed on the following resolutions:
1.) A demand was made to the government of India for immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners from Indian jails.
2.) A demand made to reverse the action of August 5th 2019 to restore Kashmir’s special status.
3.) India must end the military siege of Kashmir.
4.) India must allow international humanitarian organizations and UN fact finding missions to Kashmir.
5.) Kashmiris must be given the right to self – determination.
Chairman Kashmir solidarity Council Javed Rathore stated in his opening remarks that, the real leadership of kashmiri people is in jails and other leaders failed to represent the aspirations of people of Kashmir and met prime minister Modi without any agenda, while leadership of Azad Kashmir is busy in their political gains and Kashmiris are living egregious situation every single day. In such circumstances it is incombent on Kashmiri diaspora around the globe to stand up to become the voice of voiceless people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir
