Shangla District Water Management Officer Tahir Khan while talking to media persons said that the importance of water in agricultural development, timely availability and better use of water resources is essential. Irrigation reform activities are underway in different parts of Shangla . These include construction and repair of water channels, establishment of trout fish farms, water supply to agricultural lands, fitting of HDPE pipes and construction of water tanks. The District Officer Water Management said that the present government is now bringing more innovations in the field of irrigation reform in the agriculture sector. Timely delivery of water will be possible, he said, adding that seminars and meetings have been organized several times to create awareness among the farmers about the importance and usefulness of water from the water management platform. Now the trend of farmers towards this is increasing and they are benefiting from water resources, He further said that water is an invaluable gift of nature, comprehensive plans will be formulated for prevention and transmission of water wastage, protection of ground water in the plains of Shangla will also be ensured,Water Management also celebrates World Water Day every year to create awareness among the citizens, In Shangla, the Water Management Department has played an effective role in water supply despite limited resources. Equitable distribution of government resources is the top priority. It will take further revolutionary steps in the field of agriculture in backward and rural areas.
