LAHORE, (Raja Furqan Ahmed) :  The Punjab government has decided to file a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the cancellation of the bail granted to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Mian Javed Latif under the case of allegedly giving anti-state remarks.

According to The Pakistan Daily, a leading news outlet, Prosecutor-general Punjab would file the petition in the LHC on behalf of the provincial government in which Latif would be made the respondent.

Earlier, a court in Lahore on Wednesday had ordered the release of PML-N leader Javed Latif on bail in an anti-state speech case.

This comes as a case has been registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA, Mian Javed Latif for making a controversial statement.

The case has been registered at the Township Police Station Lahore over the complaint of a citizen named Jameel Saleem for maligning state institutions.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Javed Latif deliberately defaming the state institutions and carried out hate speech. Jameel Saleem further stated that the statement of the PML-N stalwart created hate between the party and the Pakistan People’s Party workers and he (Javed Latif) created chaos. He added that by the statement the PML-N leader tried to terrorise citizens.

Saleem has urged the authorities to take action against MNA Mian Javed Latif under the Pakistan Prevention of Electronic Crime Act. He has included Sections 120, 120-B, 153, 153-A, 500 and 500 1 –B in the FIR.

It is to be noted that Javed Latif had said during a current affairs show on a private TV channel that if anything happened to PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N will not say “Pakistan Khappay”.
