Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Former President and Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Yaqoob Khan has expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of renowned Hurriyat leader Ashraf Sahrai during his imprisonment in India.

While paying homage to the sacrifices made by Mr. Ashraf Sahrai and his family for the Kashmir Independence Movement, the former President said that the beloved homeland is proud of its brave sons and the Hurriyat leadership and their followers for enduring this trauma. He further said that the position of the Kashmiri people on the Kashmir issue is very clear and unequivocal, in which there is no ambiguity. The movement for the right to self-determination began which continues to this day. For the last seven decades or so, India has deprived Kashmiris of their universally recognized birthright, the right to self-determination, by force alone. He said that the United Nations should play its full role in implementing the resolutions on Kashmir issue which has been pending for more than half a century so that Kashmiris can get their due. There must be meaningful negotiations for a solution so that the Kashmir issue can be resolved according to the wishes of Kashmiris.
