On 8 March, different cities of Pakistan observed the ‘Aurat March’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Why have women become so insecure of their position in Pakistan? The women who understand their position in Islam and Pakistan do not say on banners that Woman, not honor Woman is human, Don’t look at me with love, brother, She is a woman no burden, Degree of will, marriage of love, will take revenge of mother, grandmother, grandmother, and everyone, I just got back from work, can you bring me a glass of water? A few banners and slogans used in the Women’s March since last year which caused controversy, one of which was “My body is my will”. This year, the slogan is seen again in the Women’s March. A woman is not identified with a man, a woman’s existence is her own. In Pakistan since 2018, Aurat March’s demands have become clearer, slogans have become louder and louder, voices have resounded and instead of the right to equality, the issue is now ‘my right’. So, In the name of women’s rights, in some places on March 8, only a few women who are the severe cause of women’s humiliation, can it be called an appropriate action? Yes, they tried to draw attention to the respect of women in society, but is it appropriate to change social attitudes towards women in Pakistan generally? No. Why problems facing women just as enforced disappearances, crimes, especially domestic violence, rapes, forced marriages, abductions, etc are not biggest challenges according to the ‘Aurat March’ play cards holders? Why so promoting Feminism in the name of Women’s Rights? The Women’s March has been going on for three years, but it should be a social movement that fights for women’s constitutional and legal rights. Has Aurat March ensured economic justice for women yet? A woman speaker said I don’t want to be stared at if I am drinking tea in a dilapidated roadside hotel somewhere outside and I need to understand that drinking tea outside the house does not spoil anyone’s character. Applause! Their demands of ‘Equality and Justice’ are accurate in the state of Pakistan, but irrelevant demands are catching attention of Men specially just to ‘Laugh at the confusing situation’ . Women holding Aurat March must understand that their demands are right but the way they have been applying is totally incorrect.
